Wrapped late and called back early? Under supported HETV and qualifying MMP (£30m+ / qualifying one-off SVOD) rules, if the gap between wrap and your next call is less than 11 hours, a broken turnaround payment may apply. What is broken turnaround?

Broken turnaround is a payment that may apply when the gap between wrap and your next call is shorter than the minimum rest period. Under the Pact/Bectu Scripted TV agreement and the qualifying Major Motion Picture agreement, that minimum rest is 11 hours.

It is separate from ordinary overtime. Compensatory rest may be agreed instead of payment in some cases. Always check your deal memo and production payroll.

When does it apply?

• HETV Scripted TV: Less than 11 hours between wrap and next call
• Qualifying MMP: Less than 11 hours between wrap and next call on productions covered by that agreement (£30m+ budget, or qualifying one-off SVOD)
• Counted from actual wrap time, not scheduled wrap
• Travel time to or from location does not count toward the rest gap

How this calculator works

Hourly rate T is your agreed day rate divided by contracted day hours.

• HETV: Shortfall rounded up to 15 minutes. Payment = shortfall hours × 0.5T.
• Qualifying MMP: Shortfall rounded up to 30 minutes. Payment = shortfall hours × 1.5T, capped at £45 per hour.

Example: HETV £500 for a 10-hour day, 9-hour gap → 2-hour shortfall → £50. Qualifying MMP with a similar 2-hour shortfall often hits the £45/hour cap.
